The 150 ha Pend-d’Oreille Placer Gold property (Smile Group) is located on the Pend-d’Oreille river just north of the BC Washington state border, a 45 minute drive from Trail, BC. It is located on the shores of the river with a 3-year work permit in place. The Pend-Oreille gold has also been known about and mined since the 1800’s. Having a work permit in place, Kootenay Island will be mining and producing gold this season from this property. The history of the region contains records of excellent gold recoveries of coarse and shiny nugget gold. Kootenay Island is also conducting a program to recover the elusive < 300 mesh gold that is currently being lost. The < 300 mesh gold is estimated to be more plentiful than the coarse gold.
